My Story

Having fostered a working knowledge of structural integration and body awareness through years of martial arts, modern dance, and voice performance, Alyssa Northrop strives to help her clients achieve a healthy, knowledgeable relationship with their own bodies.

Therapeutic Massage

Alyssa completed her massage training at the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy in 2002 and refined her work as a massage therapist at Bellanina Day Spa in Ann Arbor, Michigan through 2005. During this time, she trained other massage therapists in hot stone massage, prenatal massage, raindrop therapy, lymph drainage, and a variety of other treatments.

Alyssa collaborated in the opening of Kaizen Healing Arts Wellness Center in Ann Arbor, where she continued her practice through 2011.

After relocating to Minneapolis, Alyssa continues to help people manage stress, relieve chronic pain, and recover from injuries through therapeutic massage at her 43rd and Bryant office.

Nutrition Counseling

After a lifetime of passion for food and wellness, Alyssa received a Master of Public Health in human nutrition from the University of Michigan in 2008.

Following completion of a dietetic internship in clinical nutrition and cardiac rehabilitation through the University of Michigan Health System in 2009, Alyssa became a registered dietitian and incorporated nutrition consulting into her practice at Kaizen Healing Arts Wellness Center.

Alyssa practices holistic nutrition with an emphasis on mindful eating. Through nutrition counseling sessions you will develop a more joyful relationship with food while achieving your personal nutrition and wellness goals.

Nutrition and Wellness Writing

Drawing on her expertise in nutrition and work as a research assistant at the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine Research Center, Alyssa creates compelling, well-researched nutrition and wellness-related articles for Forbes HealthHealthline, and Greatist, as well as local businesses like the Chef Marshall O'Brien Group.
